Departure from São Luís – Arrival in Canto de Atins
We left São Luís and headed towards Canto de Atins. Along the way, the boat trip on the Preguiças River is an experience in itself, with stops at villages like Vassouras, Mandacaru, and Caburé.
In Canto de Atins, our true immersion begins: simple, welcoming family-run accommodation full of history. Here you already feel that you are not a tourist, but a guest.

First steps on the journey
Baixa Grande
It's time to put your feet in the sand.
It's a 13 km hike, with strategic stops at lagoons of crystal-clear water — like Lagoa do Paraíso (Paradise Lagoon), which lives up to its name.
At the end of the day, the sunset in Baixa Grande is the perfect finishing touch.
We'll sleep in hammocks at a local family's house, enjoying a luau under the stars and sharing many stories.

Hidden oasis in the desert
Departure from Baixa Grande – Arrival in Queimada dos Britos
From Baixa Grande we continued towards Queimada dos Britos.
It will be about 11 km to one of the most magical points of the crossing. Here, time seems to slow down.
Between swimming in lagoons, starry skies, and the hospitality of the locals, we understand that this is the essence of the Amazon region of Maranhão.
Another night in hammocks, lulled by the silence of nature.

Departure from Queimada dos Britos – Arrival at the village of Patacas
Few people make it this far.
It's a 17 km hike to the village of Patacas, one of the most special communities in the region.
Between hidden lagoons and breathtaking landscapes, the day is intense and rewarding.
In the evening, there's a gathering for conversation, homemade food, and a warm welcome—the kind of atmosphere you'll cherish forever.

The final leg of the crossing and the arrival in Santo Amaro.
Departure from Patacas Village – Arrival in Santo Amaro
My heart is already pounding, but there's still so much beauty ahead. Our last day of trekking takes us to Betânia, on a hike filled with crystal-clear lagoons and seemingly endless landscapes.
Upon arrival, we stopped at a local restaurant for a delicious lunch, the perfect way to recharge our batteries and celebrate the completed journey.
Then, we drove to Santo Amaro, where a cozy inn awaited us.
At night, free time to rest, exchange stories, and let it all sink in: you've just lived one of the most intense and complete experiences in Lençóis.
A day of conquest and farewell to the roads, but also of welcome and celebration in Santo Amaro.
